Nuclear Medicine is a specialty involving the use of radioactive substances (radiopharmaceuticals) to aid our nuclear physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases. These radiopharmaceuticals may be given orally, intravenously, or even by inhalation depending on the study requested. An external detector instrument (Gamma Camera) acquires and quantifies the radiation emitted which are the translated into images for interpretation. Nuclear Medicine scans primarily involve functional imaging of the different organs/organ systems being studied in contrast to traditional anatomical imaging such as computerized tomography or magnetic resonance imaging studies.
Our Symbia Evo Excel Dual Head Gamma Camera with SPECT, designed for fast data acquisition, can maximize molecular imaging by providing outstanding image quality and achieving high patient throughput during SPECT, Wholebody and general-purpose procedures or optimized Cardiac SPECT applications.
